- WHAT IS THIS!?! Well,
everyone in the shop was looking forward to a big weekend racing at
Shartlesville October 14th and 15th, but it wasn't going to be for
Charles. After re injuring his back, the Doctor advised him
that he has torn ligaments and tendons and shouldn't race. Bill
Yarnall took his Honda and raced very hard all weekend. With
the Super Truck Challenge in Shartlesville they used the regular classes
of tuff trucks between rounds. Bill
had to run hard in four rounds, but yet save the car to finish all four
rounds. Bill did just what he had to do and came out on top.
Just two weeks after flipping the Honda over it came right back and
won. What was Charles doing while everyone was racing at Mt. Springs?
He was tractor pulling. He has a 1965 John Deere 4020 that he
drove while he grew up on the farm. It was Cochranville's Fall
Harvest Days (this is a tractor show, pulls and garden tractor pulls.)
Charles and his dad used the tractor there to pull back the sled and
then they pulled it at the end of the day. Charles out pulled
his dad by 4 feet. Charles says, "It's not as fascinating
as tuff trucks, but at least I can walk when I'm done."
He is going to pull again November 25th at Fair Hill Fair Grounds.

- Saturday night at the Buck was the big points finals. Charles went into the night just 2 point away from winning his 4th 2WD Championship. When walking the track before the race, a couple of the guys noticed the jumps were angled a little different. Charles drew the first class, which he wanted. He ran the fastest time of the night, but not without problems. As you can see in the video and pictures, he went for quite a ride. The track got a lot of mud thrown out on it in the 4WD class. Charles was out of the points chase after getting disqualified last race, so when he hit a cone with the brat, he didn't push it. We want to congratulate Trevor Myers for winning his first championship and Jeremiah Creasy for winning the 2WD championship by just 1 point ahead of Charles. The shop is busy here, trying to get the brat ready for the big STC race at Shartlesville, PA October 14th-15th. If you have never seen a side by side tuff truck race, then please come to Shartlesville that weekend.
09/06 - After 450 miles, Charles pulled into the Fayetteville Motor Speedway. They drove all night to get there for the morning registration deadline. This is one of the nicest dirt tracks Charles had ever been to. Andy Jordan and his STC Crew made a really cool track. The jumps were very large and intimidating. After they raced around, they realized they were not that bad. It was a very even course for big and small motors. Charles managed to go a few rounds, but beat himself in 2 different rounds by making driving mistakes. He was pleased with how the brat handled the big jumps. He ended up finishing 5th place. Congratulations to Wes Pasch on his 2nd STC win in 2 weeks. We hope everyone is getting ready for Shartlesville October 14th and 15th. It is going to be a good one.
Quarter Midgets at BlackBird: Kayla finished 1st in her heat race and Dustin finished 6th in his. They weren't able to race anymore due to rain. Dustin moved up from the Jr. Novast Unrestricted to Jr. Honda.
Mud Racing at Indy: Robert Reese finished 8th in Class 4 out of 91 passes.
09/01/06 - Friday night turned out to be a muddy mess. We arrived at West End Fair in Gilbert, PA around 6pm. The night of the show we drove in rain the whole way up, so we knew it was coming. The track was built for big motors and the only chance Charles had to do good was if it rained. His first run was a good one. It started raining about an hour before the show and it kept raining all night. After the first round James Gray (Zero) had a super fast time in his turbo powered suzuki with Charles and Colin Dorshimer tied for second. We came out for the second run and Charles knew he was in trouble, the trucks had all picked about 1000 pounds of mud and he just didn't have the power for the extra weight.A couple of the big motor trucks made a better run with all of the extra weight on them. Charles was pleased with his finish. With most of the trucks in the class running V8 engines, he did well.

- Saturday night was not that great of a night for the Amish Outlaw Racing Team at the Buck Motorsports Park. Charles 1st ran into trouble in the Honda where he hit a big spot of oil left by an earlier car. This spot was in the center of the turn causing him to slide into the tires. He ended up with 5th place. In the subaru, he knew he had to run hard because Trevor had a 1 point lead coming into the race. Charles had a good run going until the last turn where he broke a front axle. That left him with only rear wheel drive. The
Buck rules state that you must complete the race with 4wd, that caused
him to get disqualified. His chances in winning the championship
are pretty slim this year. The only good news for us from the night
was that Wayne Stoltzfus, in the second 2wd class did well with a 32.62,
giving him 2nd place. The next Buck race is September 30th.
8/12/06
- Saturday night was a sold out crowd at the Buck Motorsports Park. The points battle is closer than ever. Charles came into the race in 2nd place in both classes. After the race, he is now 2 points ahead in the 2wd class and 1 point behind Trevor Myers in the 4wd class. The Buck crew had just put down 400 tons of new clay and the track had a different bite than usual. Charles knew he had to beat Jerimiah Creasy to have any chance at getting the lead in the 2wd classs. Charles did what he had to do and beat Jerimiah with the help of team mate Wayne Stoltzfus also beating him. Charles took the points lead in the 2wd class. In the 4wd class, Trevor Myers had a 2 point lead over Charles. Trevor raced early in the class and set the mark to beat. Knowing this, Charles drove very hard, beating Trevor by one second. This is going to be a very close race down to the finish. The next Buck race is August 26th. Videos and Pictures are posted.
8/7/06 - 8/13/06: The kids had a long hard five days of racing at Hagerstown Maryland Dirt Track. Kayla had an easier week than Dustin, walking away with 4 wins. Dustin finished with a 3rd on Tuesday, he ran 3rd on Wednesday, while going for second, he spun out and got slammed destroying the right side of the car. We worked Wednesday night and Thursday to get the car back together. He had a 5th place start in the A main and finished with a solid 3rd. We moved from Maryland to New Castle, DE for Sunday's race where both kids made the A main. Kayla finished 2nd in her class and Dustin finished 2nd in his class. Thanks.

- Friday night was the 1st of two nights of intense racing, presented by Paul Shaffer Motorsports. The sound of monster trucks, tuff trucks, and freestyle motorcross filled the air at Mountain Springs Camping Resort. That night times would be combined with Saturday nights runs. There was a lot of rain friday afternoon, but still not enough to help the track . It was wet, slick and hard to get a hold of. Some of the guys with less aggressive tires did better than the guys with real aggressive tires. There were a lot of really fast trucks there this weekend. In the modified class, there was 3 tenths of a second between 2nd and 9th place. This made for some very heated races on Saturday night. Everyone was pushing there trucks to the limit. I think a lot of trucks came this weekend to get a feel for the track and to be better prepared for the big race there on October 14th. This will be a race sanctioned by the Super Truck Challenge.
7/24/06
- The weather on Saturday was questionable all day. At 7:00 that night, the skies opened up at the Buck and man did it rain. After about an hour rain delay, the track crew did a good job getting the track ready. There was a big crowd on hand to watch the monster trucks and tuff trucks. The track was very heavy and slick, but the tuff trucks still put down some good runs. The 4WD class went first and it was the same battle between Charles and Trevor Myers. Trevor came out on top, after Charles messed up in the stop box. Charles had two very good runs in his honda winning the second 2WD class and then beating Jeremiah Creasy in a winner takes all 2WD shoot out. We want to congratulate Chad Forshey for getting 4th place. This was his first race with the red honda since he had bought it off of Charles. It was a great run for the first time out.
7/09/06
- It was Kayla's very first race last Sunday and she won! Dustin's race was more exciting than the older kids' races. Dustin started out in the # 2 position and he and the # 1 positioned car ran an excellent race. At first, Dustin stayed behind the #1 car, then he would pass the #1 car, after a couple swaps by the two, Dustin fell back into the # 3 position and then made his way back up to # 2 and about 3/4 of the way around the last lap, on the last turn... Dustin passed the #1 car and won the race.
7/03/06
- Saturday night was another wild night. After all the rain this past week, the track at Shartlesville was still dry. Rich Miller and Co. had to wet it to help keep the dust down. Charles ran early in the class and everyone learned from his mistake. He went into the first turn too fast and slid in the mud into the wall. After having to backup, it killed his chances of a good finish. Bill Yarnall was running Charles's red honda and ran very well all night with it. After it got dark and damp out, the moisture came out in the track and then it got slick for a while, then really tacky with a lot of bite. It is always a lot of fun at Shartlesville whether we win or lose. We will be there July 28th and 29th for the monster truck show.
Dustin won his past two B mains and is doing very well. Kayla will be making her first offical race this weekend on Sunday July 9th.
6/09/06
- The guys are getting things cleaned up for the car show at Kinzer on June 24th. Then Charles has to load up and go to the Buck to race later that night. ***Everyone do not forget about the rule change at the Buck. Charles talked to Ozzy and he said if we don't have a side window we need a screen or window net on the driver's side and that open tops or sunroofs need to be covered with some type of metal. ***

- Saturday
night was a wild night at Shartlesville. This was the first time
that Charles had been there for 2 years. Rich Miller and Company
built a tricky, but fun course with lots of changes in the directions
and a few good jumps. Another thing that was different was that
you had to race 2 times. You combine both times for a final time and
it is very hard to make two good runs. The first round Charles
was in the top 3 with all 3 of his cars. When he started the second
round, in the 2wd Honda, he went the wrong way around a cone and got
disqualified. This really made him mad. He said, "I
had a brain freeze and couldn't believe that I did that."
In the 4WD and modified classes, times were very close. He was
edged out of first place in both of them. We are looking forward to the race there in July.
Dustin
had his 1st states race last weekend. Qualifying didn't go well. He
started out in the C main and finished 3rd. In the B main he finished
3rd Also. In the A main he finished 6th
5/10/06 - Saturday night was the opening night for tuff trucks at the Buck Motorsports Park. This winter, owner Mike Hoff, added to the grandstands and it was a good thing because almost every seat was full. The track was very hard and dry. Charles was in the first 2WD class with the blue honda. He ran it hard, but got edged out by Jerimiah Creasy in his rear wheel drive Chevy by 2 one hundredths of a second. In the 4WD class Charles was happy with how the Brat handled, but did not like how it took a sharp turn with the hard packed dirt, "It just didn't spin around like my old subaru." Charles and Trevor Myers were the only 2 with 19 second runs in that class. In the second half of the 2WD class, Bill Yarnall drove Charles' red honda and man did he put down a good run. He won the class by over 2 whole seconds, not bad for never running it before.

3/26/06 - Today
was the start of a new generation of the Amish Outlaws. Dustin, Brooke
and Carley Jo went to race quarter midgets. Today they went to Black
Bird Quarter Midget Club and drove the quarter midget driving experience.
The weather was cold, but there was probably over 50 kids there to
drive the cars. Click

3/21/06 - Well, we started the season off great! We were going to Harrisburg
with high expectations, but knew that the competition would be tough.
We have been following the Super
Truck Challenge from it's beginning, but have not had the
truck finished to race with them yet. We pulled into Harrisburg early
Friday morning for tech inspection, not sure if we were going to pass
their high standards. After Roy and Colin inspected the truck they were
very impressed. Friday night at the show all 38 trucks started eliminations
for the finals on Saturday nights show. Saturday morning we started
eliminations again at 10:30. This
was a very different kind of race, running 2 trucks at a time. The jumps
were big and the turns were tight. This made it a driver's track for
sure. If you hit the jumps to hard then you were out of shape for the
turns. The list of trucks there was over whelming. The field was made
up of the best East Coast Jeep racers around and Pro Arena truck drivers
like Roger Cardot's Bubba Truck, Colin Dorshimer's No Boundaries, Thomas
Ray White, Chris Kaiko, Sky Armentrout and many others. This was by
far the toughest field I have ever faced. It was really different racing
eliminations. The pressure was on knowing that if you didn't win, you
go home. The new brat ran very well. We had to go to the trailer between
rounds to make a few repair welds. I owe a special thanks to Chris Kaiko
for giving me a piece of tubing to repair the car. When we started Saturday
Night's show we had 10 trucks left, man racing was tight. I think my
closest race was against Clayton Moore in the Semi-Finals, we were almost
dead even coming into the final turn and we swapped a little paint coming
over the final jump, but I won by about a truck length. The crowd went
wild. I came right back for the finals against Chris Smith. We lined
up for the start and took off dead even, I thought out of the corner
of my eye I saw Chris jump before the green flag drop. We raced into
the first turn and I had a little lead but when I turned the car, it
coughed and died out. I quickly re-fired but I was behind. I ran very
hard trying to catch up. When we went over the final jump he was ahead
of me by a length. I was getting out of the car to congratulate him
and then they announced that he had red lighted. The crowd was cheering
so loud that I couldn't hear anything. I found out while signing autographs
that many of them were fans from the Buck. If anyone ever gets the chance
to race for STC I say go for it! They make a very nice track so it is
fair for everyone.
Sunday
at shop, Jerry, Robert and Robbie spent the day putting Robert's new car back together with
some help from Jared
and Dain Null. They are making very good progress. They hope
to have everything back together and running well by April 8th for the
first race of the season at Cartersville, Va (Bodatious.)
02/24/06 -Well,
the winter has been very busy as you all have seen. We have made a lot
of new cars. I have been busy behind the computer working with new advertisers
and building a new website. It will be done very soon and I hope it will
make things a lot easier. Charles is very happy, today Wayne Stoltzfus
is painting the brat. This weekend George and Sonny from G & S Graphics
are coming out to letter the truck. On Saturday the guys are making the
body for Robert's Car. They hired Jamie Topper from James L. Topper Custom
Building Services to help with the body. Jamie built the body for Jerry's
Car. He has lots of experience in sheet metal and wood working. While
Robert's chassis is away getting tig welded and painted, Charles and Jerry
are going to get a big jump on Jerry's car. Charles is going to freshen
the motor, heads and bottom end. Jerry is putting on a new 350 HP nitrous
system. The blower is away at Midyette Brothers Manufacturing getting
freshened up and getting a few tricks done to it. Robert's car will be
coming back in a few weeks to be reassembled and shipped out. Charles
is looking forward to debuting the new brat at Harrisburg, March 17th
and 18th. There is going to be a whole new kind of competition and lots
of different trucks there.
